10 weeks!

So we are at 10 weeks today! The baby is about the size of a prune! I have been sick off and on the last few days. It will go away and then it hits me hard. I'm hoping that we're almost at the end of this stage!

I had an urge to tell everyone earlier this week, but I'm going to hold out until 12 weeks. 2 more weeks! That's not long in the scheme of life, but right now I'm thinking it sounds like a long time! I am excited it is Friday so I can be lazy this weekend! My plan is to have some serious couch time this weekend. Next weekend is our 2nd anniversary and we will be going to Omaha/Council Bluffs to celebrate, so I won't get to be lazy next weekend! Shoot! :)

9 weeks!

Yesterday we had our ultrasound and it went well! The baby was measuring right on track and the heartbeat was 190! The baby is about the size of an olive and looked much bigger on ultrasound than the past ones. The morning sickness is much better and it only comes in waves now instead of being constant. I have also found that if I eat throughout the day, it is much better.

This weekend is the big Jimmy Buffett party at Summerset and I volunteered to watch our nephews so Angie and Matt could go. I didn't really want to go this time around anyway since it is hard for me to stay up past 10:00. My routine has basically been, go to work, come home, lay on couch until bedtime (now 9pm), then go to bed. I have just been so exhausted!

I think I decided that I will start telling people at around 12 weeks (Feb. 8th). I figure that is close enough and I don't think we can't wait a whole month to tell everyone. 3 weeks just sounds so much better for some reason. :) Well, I will update next week! At this point we have told a few close friends and family and a few co-workers, but I would really like to hold off until the 12 week mark before telling anyone else. Hopefully we will be able to keep our mouths shut!

Morning Sickness

I know I shouldn't complain, but this morning sickness stuff is for the birds. It is getting a little worse I think. I just hope it doesn't last much past 1st trimester! It basically feels like I have the stomach flu 24/7. You know, when you are zapped of energy, feel like you're going to puke at any moment and just want to sleep all the time. Yeah, that's how it feels. I think I may look into those Sea Bands that people wear on their wrists for motion sickness. They are supposedly supposed to help as long as you're wearing them, but if you take them off then you feel sick again. It is so hard to get motivated to go to work and deal with my little sassy middle schoolers. :) I'll quit having my pity party now. I know that this will all be worth it in the end! :)

7 weeks!

Today is 7 weeks! Last night we had an ultrasound and everything measured/looked well. We even heard/saw the heartbeat. It was great. We will go back in 2 weeks to have a follow-up ultrasound to make sure things are progressing nicely. The baby is just about the size of a blueberry right now and by 2 more weeks will be considerably bigger (the size of an olive).

I found a website that compares the size of the baby to a food

http://community.thenestbaby.com/cs/ks/photos/nest_baby_editors/tags/How+Big+Is+Baby_3F00_/default.aspx,

so it is easier to tell how big it is. I will try to download the pics of the ultrasound too. The morning sickness continues, but I have noticed that it is better if I have food in my stomach. So while I don't want to eat and have no desire to do so, if I do I feel a lot better. It's just hard to motivate myself to eat in the morning when I feel so sick. I ususally start with a cracker or two and then progress to a banana. I try to just nibble on stuff and eat slowly so I won't upset my stomach even more. From everything I've read, morning sickness is a good sign of a healthy pregnancy. More than 80% of women have morning sickness while pregnant and it is a very good thing, even though it's not so fun right now. :)
